I love the tone I get from the G2 Coated heads!

An Evans Drumheads player since 2000

Larnell Lewis is a Toronto born musician, composer, producer, educator and clinician. Often referred to as one of Canada’s most promising up and coming drummers, Lewis has been featured on the cover of Music Etc/Drums Etc, a national music and drumming magazine. He has also been featured at the Montreal Drum Fest on three separate occasions sharing the stage with world renown drummers including Teddy Campbell, Dave Weckl, Horacio “El Negro” Hernandez” and Keith Carlock.

Larnell was first introduced to drums in church at a very young age. This is where he began to play a variety of styles including gospel music. He worked tirelessly to not only develop his understanding of rhythm, but also studied electric bass and piano to further his knowledge of the melodic and harmonic aspects of music making. Although his roots lay in gospel music, Larnell is known for his ability to accurately execute a variety of musical styles. As a result, he has been called upon to perform with various artists ranging from Fred Hammond, Jully Black and Glenn Lewis to Michael Brecker, Hilario Duran, Snarky Puppy and Molly Johnson. Larnell has been asked to take the lead or assist in producing tracks for other artists. He has also recorded on over 50 CDs for other artists and performers.

Having supported the music of so many talented artists, Larnell is currently focused on bringing his own compositions to life. He describes his sound as an eclectic mix of fusion music inspired by Afro and Latin Caribbean sounds, RnB, Soul and Funk. His first EP is scheduled for release this summer. Two singles from this EP will be unveiled as a part of his upcoming nationwide clinic tour in May 2013.

In addition to his work as a stage musician, Larnell is currently a professor part- time at Humber College in the Faculty of Music. Larnell is sponsored by Yamaha Acoustic and Electronic Drums and Hardware, Evans Drum Heads, Promark Drumsticks and Zildjian Cymbals.
