In 1984, she won the Concurso Jovens Instrumentistas and later studied at the University of Rio de Janeiro. Assad's international success has led her to perform in over 50 countries at prestigious venues. Known for her innovation in the jazz and worldbeat genres, she frequently collaborates with leading musicians like Larry Coryell and John Abercrombie, Pat Metheny and Bobby McFerrin.
