About Susan Alcorn
Susan Alcorn is a Baker Artist Award recipient and visionary pedal steel guitarist, widely regarded as one of the finest instrumentalists of her generation. Originally rooted in Texas country music, she expanded the instrument's possibilities by fusing 20th-century classical, jazz, and global influences. Known for her innovative solo work, Susan has collaborated with luminaries such as Pauline Oliveros, Evan Parker, and Mary Halvorson. Her 2020 album, Pedernal, and her 2023 release, Canto, have earned critical acclaim, appearing on "Best of the Year" lists and garnering international recognition.
