ABOUT Stephen Ahearn


Stephen Ahearn has served as the Courtney and Drew Nall Second Clarinet with the Dallas Symphony since 2012. He has been the Interim Associate Principal Clarinet and E♭ Clarinet since 2021. In addition to performing with the orchestra, Stephen is an Adjunct Associate Professor of Clarinet at Southern Methodist University.


Prior to joining the Dallas Symphony, he served as the Interim Second and E♭ Clarinet with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, Bass Clarinet with the Santa Fe Opera Orchestra, Principal Clarinet with the Sarasota Opera Orchestra, and Adjunct Professor of Clarinet at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Stephen has also performed as a guest with the Philadelphia Orchestra and the St. Louis Symphony, and thoroughly enjoys performing chamber music with ensembles such as the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival, Santa Fe Pro Musica, Chatter, and Voices of Change.


Stephen’s primary teachers include Ricardo Morales, David Weber, Todd Levy, and David Niethamer.
