Alternate Sound Sources
You may know ProMark drumsticks, but have you heard of ProMark Alternate Sound Sources? That’s the term we use for stick-like products that aren’t sticks—including rods, brushes, and broomsticks. Read on to learn the distinctions between each and what they do best.
Rods
Designed to subdue the volume of each hit, rods are made by fastening dowels to each other. Hot and Cool Rods both use nineteen birch dowels, but Hot Rods use medium dowels while Cool Rods use small dowels for a very delicate sound. Lightning and Thunder Rods are both made from seven dowels, though Lightning use large dowels and Thunder use extra-large, for the ultimate in rod strength and durability.
Brushes
ProMark brushes come in two varieties: nylon and wire. Our Nylon Brushes feature bristles fused to ensure optimal playability, plus a soft-touch handle with internal counterweights that make it feel like your favorite drumstick. The ProMark Jazz Telescopic Wire Brushes are ideal for intricate brush work, boasting a smooth rubber handle and light gauge wire bristles for a light sound and fast response.
Broomsticks
Broomsticks are a nice middle ground, offering greater volume than brushes and less attack than rods. They feature an adjustable O-ring which allows players to change the spread of the bristles and are available in small and medium.
