Hydraulics are made with a thin layer of oil between two plies of 7 mil film (6.5mil & 7.5mil for Hydraulic Black). The oil serves to affect the tone while also making them famously easy to tune. Hydraulics, like most EVANS heads, feature Level 360 Technology and are available in multiple sizes..
Sound
EVANS Hydraulic snare batters give you the fat, deep, short sound pioneered by rock and roll drummers in the 1970s. The oil also helps to suppress unwanted overtones. Overall, they have a defined attack, short sustain, and dark tonal character—plus extra warmth, focus, and depth, thanks to Evans frost coating.
Aesthetic
Besides their distinct tech and tone, Hydraulics also come in some dazzling colors. They’re available in clear, red, blue, and black. With the colors besides black, you can see the oil in between the plies, which gives these heads an extra interesting aesthetic.
