What drumsticks do drummers use?
Many drummers use sticks with 5A or 5B thickness and a standard length of 16”. Most commonly, drummers use drumsticks made from hickory, since that’s the most popular wood choice, but you’ll also find maple and, occasionally, oak sticks. Often drummers use sticks with acorn-shaped tips, which may be made from wood or nylon.

How do you know what size drumsticks to buy?
5A is the most popular thickness of drumstick so you’ll likely be happy with that. The standard length of 16” is also a good bet for most drummers and unless otherwise indicated, your 5A stick should be standard thickness.
